Proverbs 6:16-19 has come to my mind again and again in recent days.

“There are six things the LORD hates–no, seven things he detests:

haughty eyes,

a lying tongue

hands that kill the innocent,

a heart that plots evil,

feet that race to do wrong,

a false witness who pours out lies,

a person who sows discord in a family.” (New Living Translation)

Let’s start with #7.   GOD HATES a person who sows discord in a family.    What sows discord in a nuclear family?   What sows discord in a church family?    What kind of person sows discord?   How is it sown?   What do its roots look like?  What is the fruit of sowing discord?

Ponder this.    Are you “making every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit in the bond of peace?”  How have you spoken to others?   about others?   What is your part in maintaining unity – in alertly watching for any evidence of disunity, addressing it and doubling your efforts to eradicate it?

Ponder this – I will blog further on this subject next week – Unity and Disunity is much on my mind as I minister to various churches  and interact with a variety of leaders.   Unity isn’t optional and each of us will give an account of our involvement with other believers.

Read Psalm 133 “How wonderful and pleasant it is when brothers live together in harmony!”
