Unless the LORD builds the Seminary

Unless the LORD builds the church

…its builders labour in vain.

Last Thursday I gave tours of the Residence renovation at Toronto Baptist Seminary, then spoke at Jarvis Street Baptist on Psalm 127:1.   How often does Scripture speak of building projects!  How many things were built by God’s people?    The ark, the tabernacle, the temple, the walls of Jerusalem, etc.

In Psalm 127 Solomon who had been entrusted with the incredible task of building the temple gives to us the essential key for lasting construction.   Unless the LORD builds the house, its builders labor in vain.

If we are building – a life, a career, a ministry, a church, a family we MUST have God’s help.  Without it we can do nothing!  Without Him we can accomplish nothing of eternal value.

May God help each of us to consider what we are building, how we are building and for whose glory we are building.     May God grant us “Fruitful labour” (Philippians 1:22) as we build for HIS glory!
