Grace! ’tis a charming sound, Hamonious to the ear;
Heaven with the echo shall resound, and all the earth shall hear.
CHORUS (not in Believer’s Hymn Book)
Saved by grace alone! This is all my plea
Jesus died for all mankind, and Jesus died for me.
Grace taught my wandering feet To tread the heavenly road;
And new supplies each hour I meet, While pressing on to God.
‘Twas grace that wrote my name In life’s eternal book;
‘Twas grace that gave me to the Lamb, Who all my sorrows took.
Grace taught my soul to pray, And made my eyes o’erflow;
‘Tis grace has kept me to this day, And will not let me go.
O let that grace inspire My soul with strength divine;
M ay all my powers to Thee aspire, And all my days be Thine.
Grace all the work shall crown Through everlasting days;
It lays in heaven the topmost stone, And well deserves the praise.
I love hymns on the theme of grace. Amazing Grace, Wonderful Grace of Our Loving Lord, Grace Greater Than All Our Sin and certainly this wonderful hymn. Who can weary of singing of the grace of God.
We are saved by grace, we are kept by grace, we will be saved by grace. Sola gratia – Grace alone. “For by grace you are saved through faith…” (Ephesians 2) For the grace of God that brings salvation has appeared to all men… It teaches us…. (Titus) Grace to you, and peace…… (almost every letter written by Paul to churches he had established and leaders with whom he had served.)
Thank you Lord for your grace – marvelous, rich, amazing grace. Grace truly is the topstone, the capstone to all that we know of our God. May all my powers to Thee aspire, and all my days be Thine! Amen
