Bride of the Lamb, there is for thee One only safe retreat;
Where Jesus is, thy heart should be, Thy home at His dear feet.
When Satan tracks thy lonely way, There his temptations meet;
In Jesus’ presence watch and pray, yea, conquer at His feet.
Since thou hast much to learn, e’en though Thou art in Christ complete;
In grace and knowledge seek to grow, By sitting at His feet.
Through tribulation hasten on, With Christ the cross is sweet;
The “little while” will soon be gone; Keep only at His feet.
Bride of the Lamb, forget the past, Prepare the Lord to greet;
‘Tis thine to share His throne, and cast Thy wreath before His feet.
Meditation – The feet of Christ – washed by the sinful woman, recall Mary sitting at His feet, those nail-scarred feet.
Interesting weaving together of scripture and analogies. “But grow in grace and in the knowledge of our Lord and Saviour Jesus Christ.” 2 Peter 3:18; “In Christ all the fullness of the Godhead dwells in bodily form and you are complete (stanza 3) in Him who is the head of every power and authority.” (Colossians 2:9,10)
Tribulation is NOT future but present – cf. John in Revelation “your companion in the tribulation.” Those who propose that all tribulation is yet future have not read the New Testament carefully enough. “Through much tribulation….we enter the kingdom.”
We are the bride of Christ. Are we more in love with our heavenly husband than ever? Sit today at His feet and learn from Him!
