A Journal Entry Worth Reading

A dear relative of my wife, Bethany, daughter of Jack and Ruth Spender of Connecticut wrote the following words in her journal just a short time before she died. At the age of 26 she entered the Lord’s presence. Please pray for her husband Jeff, her parents and the ongoing impact of her testimony. As was written about Abel “she being dead still speaks….” Hebrews 11:4b
From Bethany’s pen….
“The last two weeks have been more full of hope than I could’ve ever imagined a month ago. I’ve been drinking in the richness and blessing of living only in this present moment and enjoying God’s gifts which are many now that I have eyes to see them. This morning I learned that I am officially in remission. It hadn’t been on my mind too much because I know that the doctor’s analysis makes no difference to God’s plan, and that is what we are setting our eyes on. So I was surprised that some fear came after the phone call this morning. Now I realize what is going on: as long as Satan could threaten me with fear of death, he used that. When I learned to long for heaven and trust the Lord with the timing of my death, Satan switched to whispering about how painful life can be, and how heaven is so far away. I will not believe his lies again.
Heaven is always close, and God’s plan is for my good.”
Lord enable all of your children to live with this honest, realistic yet godly perspective. Help us all to set our affections on things above!
