Yesterday, after a wonderful Bible study at a Seniors home where I teach each Tuesday, a dear senior, who has served God for many years, asked to see me. She explained to me a situation which had been on her conscience for 59 years. She had asked God for forgiveness and was confessing this same sin to me since I am involved with TBS, the school which had been her training ground.
What value is there in a clear conscience! I reminded this dear lady of Paul’s desire to have a conscience “void of offense” of all men. How easy it is to sear our conscience, to ignore the promptings of conviction issued by the indwelling Spirit of God and simply dismiss His urging.
This dear lady provided me with a powerful example. As I prayed for her I rejoiced in her deep desire to make things right. Lord, renew her. Bless her. Encourage her with new freedom as she seeks to “walk in the Spirit” and “not fulfill the desires of the sinful nature.” May I do likewise.
